Rather, being \u201cgentle\u201d in how we treat others is a way of letting God&#8217;s love flow through us and be experienced by the people around us. It is \u201cloving our neighbor as yourself\u201d (Matthew 22:39). It is also the same word used in the following related verses:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:Calibri, sans-serif;\"> <i><b>\u201cRemind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good, \u201cto slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and always to be <\/b><\/i><i><span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\"><b>gentle\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/i><i><b>toward everyone.\u201d &#8211; Titus 3:1-2<\/b><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:Calibri, sans-serif;\">This shows us that being \u201cgentle\u201d means \u2013 it is being considerate of others. In other words, it is being conscious about how our words and actions can affect others, and it implies taking that extra step to be careful with what we say and do so that we do not hurt other people&#8217;s feelings.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:Calibri, sans-serif;\"> <i><b>\u201cBut the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, <\/b><\/i><i><span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\"><b>considerate<\/b><\/span><\/i><i><b>, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.\u201d &#8211; James 3:17<\/b><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:Calibri, sans-serif;\">The KJV version translates the word \u201cconsiderate\u201d as \u201cgentle.\u201d Notice the following similarities:<\/span><\/p>\n<dl>\n<dd>\n<table width=\"553\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"4\">\n<tbody>\n<tr valign=\"TOP\">\n<td width=\"353\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri, sans-serif;\"><b>Titus 3: 1-2<\/b><\/span><\/td>\n<td width=\"183\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri, sans-serif;\"><b>James 3:17<\/b><\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr valign=\"TOP\">\n<td width=\"353\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri, sans-serif;\">be subject to rulers and authorities and be obedient<\/span><\/td>\n<td width=\"183\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri, sans-serif;\">submissive<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr valign=\"TOP\">\n<td width=\"353\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri, sans-serif;\">be ready to do what is good<\/span><\/td>\n<td width=\"183\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri, sans-serif;\">full of&#8230; good fruit<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr valign=\"TOP\">\n<td width=\"353\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri, sans-serif;\">slander no one<\/span><\/td>\n<td width=\"183\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri, sans-serif;\">Impartial and sincere<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr valign=\"TOP\">\n<td width=\"353\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri, sans-serif;\">be peacable<\/span><\/td>\n<td width=\"183\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri, sans-serif;\">peace-loving<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:Calibri, sans-serif;\">Gentleness is then best viewed along with these other virtues or characteristics which go hand-in-hand to show us a more complete picture of what it means to be a \u201cgentle Christian.\u201d It is something which we should remember not only when we are with good people; but more so when there are others around us who hurt us or cause us much stress.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:Calibri, sans-serif;\">Even in correcting others, the bible tells us to do it gently \u2013 because God calls us to be humble and recognize that none of us is perfect and we have <i><b>\u201cdifferent measures of faith\u201d (Romans 12:3)<\/b><\/i>. It is acknowledging that though some may seem better than others, the truth is, an honest estimate of ourselves would show us all to be living way below God&#8217;s standard \u2013 which is holy and perfect \u2013 a standard only Jesus was able to meet. Jesus actually tells us to learn this virtue from him, <i><b>\u201cTake my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am <\/b><\/i><i><span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\"><b>gentle<\/b><\/span><\/i><i><b> and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.\u201d (Matthew 11:29)<\/b><\/i>. Therefore, we leave it up to God to judge; our role is to encourage one another and to be gentle and kind and most of all, to pray that God will touch people&#8217;s hearts and bring them to repentance and belief in Jesus Christ so that they might be saved.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:Calibri, sans-serif;\"> <i><b>\u201c<\/b><\/i><i><b>And the Lord\u2019s servant must not be quarrelsome but must <\/b><\/i><i><span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\"><b>be kind to everyone,<\/b><\/span><\/i><i><b> able to teach, not resentful.
