Math lesson for this day was \u201cordinal numbers,\u201d and the hands-on activity for this was making a grocery list (first-to-tenth). We decided to take this one step further and go buy the items on the list for real. We hope to reinforce her learning thru concrete application of the lessons, while having fun at the same time as well.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s her list!<\/p>\n

And so off we went to the grocery with Allyra holding on to her precious list. We made her finish her list first before we went back to get the items from Mommy\u2019s grocery list.<\/p>\n

Time to buy the items following the correct order!<\/p>\n

Hmmm.. what comes second..and third…and so on…<\/p>\n

\"Hmmm..what's<\/a><\/p>\n

Little Sam is helping out.<\/p>\n

Allyra\u2019s checks to see if we\u2019ve gotten all her groceries.<\/p>\n

All done!<\/p>\n

This activity reminded me of how important it is to have a plan everyday. It might be just a mental list or better, a written one, but the point is, it is a good idea to start the day with a plan laid out. Being a stay-at-home mom, my daughter and I have gotten used to a no-set-schedule lifestyle. And things have not really changed with baby Sam joining the family. We have such a flexible day that trying to fit in a \u201cstudy hour\u201d has been especially challenging. But by the grace of God, we are able to generally start each day with a prayer and end with having that special time with Father God as well. Bible reading is done anytime during the day, but I admit we have a lot more to work on in terms of disciplining ourselves to actually spending time reading and meditating the Word. A verse that has ministered to me about this is Ephesians 5:15-17:<\/p>\n

\u201cBe very careful, then, how you live\u2014not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord\u2019s will is.\u201d<\/p>\n

Truly, we do not know how much time we really have and we must make wise use of each day that God so graciously allows us to spend with our family and friends. But most of all, we should always know to put GOD FIRST in everything we say, think, or do. If there\u2019s only one thing about ordinal numbers we should remember, then I believe this is it:<\/p>\n

\u201cBut seek ye FIRST the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.\u201d \u2013 Matthew 6:33.<\/p>\n
