{"id":487,"date":"2013-07-01T15:43:30","date_gmt":"2013-07-01T14:43:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wonderfullymadekids.wordpress.com\/?p=487"},"modified":"2023-08-18T10:58:53","modified_gmt":"2023-08-18T09:58:53","slug":"lesson-on-love-part-1-john-316","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wonderfullymadekids.com\/index.php\/2013\/07\/01\/lesson-on-love-part-1-john-316\/","title":{"rendered":"Fruits of the Spirit: LESSON 1 PART 1 &#8211; Love (John 3:16)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fruits of the Spirit:\u00a0LESSON 1 PART 1 &#8211; Love (John 3:16)<\/p>\n<p>Memory Verse:<\/p>\n<p><b><i>\u201cFor God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.\u201d \u2013 John 3:16<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Lesson Presentation:<\/p>\n<ol start=\"1\">\n<li>Write the verse on the blackboard and have the students read it.<\/li>\n<li>Ask the students what they think the verse means.<\/li>\n<li>Discuss the following key words from the verse:\n<ol start=\"1\">\n<li>God loved \u2013 God did what he did because of his great love.<\/li>\n<li>The world \u2013 This means ALL of us.<\/li>\n<li>He gave \u2013 God showed his love by giving us his very best \u2013 his own Son.<\/li>\n<li>Whoever believes \u2013 What we need to do is believe \u2013 have FAITH in Jesus<\/li>\n<li>Not perish \u2013 There is a real place called hell which is reserved for people who reject God\u2019s Son and choose to live a life away from God.<\/li>\n<li>Eternal life \u2013 God has prepared a special place for those who believe in Him where there will be no more tears, pain or suffering \u2026 this wonderful place is called heaven.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Substitute a student\u2019s name to the verse so that it will read like this:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><i>For God so loved <\/i><i><span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\">(<b>person\u2019s name<\/b><\/span><\/i><i>) that He gave His one and only Son, that if (<b><span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\">person\u2019s name<\/span><\/b>) believes in Him, (<b><span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\">person\u2019s name<\/span><\/b>) shall not perish but have eternal life.<\/i><\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li>\u2022 Say, \u201cI would like us to recite this verse again, but this time, I want us to recite it as a blessing to each other.\u201d\u00a0 Divide group into pairs. If you have an odd number of participants, you can stand in to make the last pair. Say, \u201cThis time when you say the verse, I want you to substitute the name of your partner for some of the words.\u201d Have the group recite the verse as a blessing for each of their partners.<\/li>\n<li>Say, \u201cThat was great! Now I think we are starting to see that Jesus died for each one of us. Even if your partner was the only one in the world, Jesus would have died for him or her.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Substitute the pronoun \u201cme\u201d \u00a0and \u201cI\u201d to the verse for it to read like this:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><i>For God so loved <b><span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\">ME<\/span><\/b> that He gave His one and only Son, that if <b><span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\">I<\/span><\/b> believe in Him, <b><span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\">I<\/span><\/b> shall not perish but have eternal life.<\/i><\/p>\n<ol start=\"8\">\n<li>Say, \u201cNow I want to recite the verse again, and this time, you are going to substitute yourself for some of the words.\u201d Have each person recite the verse out loud simultaneously, substituting \u201cI\u201d and \u201cme\u201d in the appropriate places.<\/li>\n<li>Ask the students, \u201cHow does that make you feel?\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Say, \u201cDo you see? Jesus died for you! He loved you so much that He was willing to take your punishment for sin. Jesus died for everyone, and He died for anyone\u2026.anyone who would accept the gift of His death on the cross.
