Fruits of the Spirit:\u00a0<\/b>LESSON 1 PART 2 – Love (Matthew 22:37-39)<\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cJesus replied: \u201c\u202f\u2018Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.\u2019 This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: \u2018Love your neighbor as yourself.\u2019\u201d\u2013 Matthew 22:37-39<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Lesson Presentation:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. God gave Moses two tablets containing the Ten Commandments in Mt. Sinai.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. The Israelites have tried to keep theses commandments from that time until the time of\u00a0Jesus. But no one could really obey these commandments completely.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Jesus summarized the commandments into only two: LOVE GOD and LOVE OTHERS.<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. When we LOVE GOD, then we:<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    1<\/span>st<\/span><\/sup> Commandment: \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Put God first<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

    2<\/span>nd<\/span><\/sup> Commandment: \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Have no idols<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

    3rd Commandment: \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Will not misuse God\u2019s name<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

    4<\/span>th<\/span><\/sup> Commandment: \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Keep the Sabbath holy through worship and rest<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

    5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>When we LOVE OTHERS, then we:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

    5<\/span>th<\/span><\/sup> Commandment: \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Honor our father and mother<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

    6<\/span>th<\/span><\/sup> Commandment: \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Don\u2019t kill or hurt others<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

    7<\/span>th<\/span><\/sup> Commandment: \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0Don\u2019t commit adultery<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

    8<\/span>th<\/span><\/sup> Commandment: \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Don\u2019t steal<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

    9<\/span>th<\/span><\/sup> Commandment: \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Don\u2019t lie (bear false witness)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

    10<\/span>th<\/span><\/sup> Commandment: \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Don\u2019t covet (envy)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

    6. \u00a0Jesus made it clear that what God wants from us is not to simply obey out of obligation or fear, but we do what God wants because we first have LOVE in our hearts.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

    7. \u00a0When our hearts are guided by the LOVE of GOD, then good things follow. We don\u2019t even have to think very hard about obeying the Ten Commandments. When we LOVE GOD, we instinctively do what is right and seek to do things that please God. When we LOVE OTHERS, we also seek to do good to others and not cause them any harm.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

    8. \u00a0Pray for each other for God to send the Holy Spirit to each of us so that we may always be guided by God\u2019s love in all we say, think or do.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
