Happiness is something we experience for a moment and is often short lived. Joy is eternal. It comes only as a result of living a life of praise. Praise comes as a result of a heart that is overflowing with joy &#8212; it teaches us to be joyful and thankful regardless of our circumstances. It prepares us for God&#8217;s service and helps us to see beyond our present circumstances to the immense possibilities that are ours through faith in Jesus Christ.<a title=\"\" href=\"\/Users\/CHOKOLEX\/Documents\/August%2019%202013%20Psalm%2033%203%20Lesson%20Guide.doc#_edn1\">[i]<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Bible teaches 7 types of praise. This praise can happen at home, work, in the car or during the worship service. Praise is a very important part of our relationship with God.\u00a0 God inhabits our praise and we should not be shy in our praise, for our praise glorifies God.<a title=\"\" href=\"\/Users\/CHOKOLEX\/Documents\/August%2019%202013%20Psalm%2033%203%20Lesson%20Guide.doc#_edn2\">[ii]<\/a><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><b>Yadah <\/b><strong>(yaw-daw\u2019) &#8211; <\/strong>This is the demonstration of our love and submission to the Lord by the raising of our hands.\u00a0 <span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\">Lifting your hands to the Lord<\/span> in total submission and devotion. It\u2019s like a child extending his hands high above their heads with a desire to be held.<a title=\"\" href=\"\/Users\/CHOKOLEX\/Documents\/August%2019%202013%20Psalm%2033%203%20Lesson%20Guide.doc#_edn3\">[iii]<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Towdah (to-daw\u2019<\/strong><strong>)<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; This is the sacrifice of praise.\u00a0 Praising the Lord, even if you don&#8217;t feel like praising the Lord.\u00a0 Praising the Lord even though you are going through many trials in your life.\u00a0 <span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\">Lifting up your hand as an offering<\/span> of praise.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Barak (baw-rak\u2019)<\/strong><strong> &#8211;<\/strong> This means <span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\">to bow or kneel down<\/span> humbly before the Lord.\u00a0 To be completely overwhelmed by His majesty and bow at His feet in submission and honor to the Lord.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tehillah (tel-hil-law\u2019)<\/strong> &#8211; This one is the best.\u00a0 It is the combination of singing, shouting, dancing, clapping and rejoicing before the Lord. It\u2019s <span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\">spontaneous singing<\/span> straight from our hearts to God.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Zamar (zaw-mar\u2019)<\/strong> \u2013 It\u2019s celebrating in song and music, <span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\">playing any instrumen<\/span>t for the glory of God.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Halal (haw-lal\u2019) <\/strong>&#8211; This means to be so full of enthusiasm of the wonders of the Lord that you express it in <span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\">dancing and laughing and twirlin<\/span>g before the Lord without caring what other people say.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Shabach (Shaw-bakh\u2019)<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; This means <span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\">to shout<\/span>.\u00a0 Praise to the Lord given in the form of a shout.
