What the Health

“What the Health”

Several weeks ago, our Ate Allyra watched this Pro-Vegan Netflix Film called, “What the Health” and after making us watch it too, we were all convinced we had to change our diet somehow.

What followed was a trip to the grocery with the intention of trying our best to avoid animal-based food and try vegetarianism/veganism instead.

While the eagerness to take charge of our health was definitely there, the enthuiasm and willpower to be strictly vegan soon wore off. It was a tad bid too difficult to maintain, especially for a family like us who has meat-loving little people and parents.

The excitement may have worn off but our Ate Allyra was determined to make our family’s eating habits healthier. So, she took it upon herself to make sure we always got fruits from the grocery. She also decided to make a daily fruit snack for her and her siblings. She prepares these fruit bowls/plates all by herself and praise God because the kids all enjoy it.

Moses Sees God

Moses Sees God (Exodus 33:18-23; 34:29-35)

God’s light is too bright — He had to hide Moses in a cleft of a rock when he passed by because it was too much for Him. God’s light transferred to Moses’ face — and even it became too bright for the people to look at. Moses had to wear a veil to keep the light from hurting their eyes.

Light shines and eliminates darkness. As humans, we are unworthy to be in the presence of the King of Kings. His holiness — His light — would pierce through any darkness and vanquish it; and we, with our sinful nature, would not survive if we try to go near a holy God. That is why Jesus is our rock, and when we are in Jesus, we can finally go near our Father in heaven, just as Moses hid in the rock when the glory of the Lord passed by.

Moses’ face became bright after he spent time with the Lord. The Israelites could clearly see God’s presence in him. When we spend time with God, his light shines on us, and as people see how God works through us and in us, this is how we can also shine for Jesus.

From tree to tummy

From tree to tummy… malunggay is yummy!

Since a big chunk of our day is spent on preparing food, cooking, eating and cleaning up, we might as well make it a regular thing to involve the kids with what they can whenever we can.

Today, they picked malunggay from the tree, stripped the leaves from the branches, helped cook tinola and enjoyed their yummy meal together.

Praise God for His daily grace!!!

WMK SY 2018-2019 2nd Quarter Portfolio

We’re halfway through the school year! Praise the Lord!!!

Sharing with you our 2nd Quarter portfolio — a testament of daily relying on God’s amazing grace.

Homeschooling is not easy, and each homeschool family is different. Since we have little people, we know they learn through play. We rarely have them work on textbooks or worksheets, and we also rely heavily on Youtube and other internet resources for educational videos. We make videos to document the things they do and also to reinforce the learning — watching themselves again in Youtube reminds them of what they learned.

This is the simplified portfolio with just the animated pages of our PowerPoint presentation. The PowerPoint presentation we will submit at the end of the year has all the videos (indicated by the “play” button) and audios embedded on it.

As the teacher-mommy, my heart is full after completing this portfolio. Praise the Lord for His grace that sustains us everyday!

First Aid for Kids

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” – Isaiah 41:10 NIV

Learning First Aid techniques means being able to use the knowledge, wisdom and skills from the Lord in order to be ready when there are accidents. Equipping kids with these tips makes them braver when they get hurt and be confident and knowledgeable enough to help others if the need arises.

Good Fruit vs. Bad Fruit

“No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. Each tree is recognized by its own fruit. People do not pick figs from thornbushes, or grapes from briers.” – Luke 6:43‭-‬44 NIV

We talked about this during our morning devotion and decided to make a video about it. I noticed that as I was editing it, the little Kuya was actually memorizing the explanations given by his Ate. What a great way to learn and put God’s Word in our hearts!

It seems we might be making more of these videos soon! So help us God!
