BUWAN NG WIKA ACTIVITY IDEA: Creation Story: Philippine Version
We originally used this materials for our “Buwan ng Wika” coop activity and we reviewed them again recently. Basically, it’s a Filipino version or adaptation of the story of creation. The main material used is felt. I printed the pictures used on sticker photo paper and also backed them up with felt. We ended up with a giant felt board activity for “The Story of Creation: Pinoy Style.”
Story sequence:
DAY 1: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 
DAY 2: And God said, “Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water.” So God made the vault and separated the water under the vault from the water above it. 
DAY 3a: And God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear.” An archipelago with 3 major islands appeared in the ocean, and this was eventually known as the Philippines. 
DAY 3b: God called the dry ground “land,” and the gathered waters he called “seas.” (Mt. Apo, Chocolate Hills, Pagsanjan Falls, Lake Sebu, Boracay, Tubbataha Reef)
Then God said, “Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.” (Anahaw, Narra, Sampaguita)
DAY4: And God said, “Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night. The stars and the sun became a symbol of freedom when it became part of the Philippine flag.
DAY 5: And God said, “Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky. (Bangus, Dugong, Clam, Philippine Eagle)
DAY 6: And God said, “Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: the livestock, the creatures that move along the ground, and the wild animals, each according to its kind.” (Tamaraw, Spotted deer, Tarsier)
Then God made man in His image and likeness, male and female He created them.
