Today we hear a lot about how education should not only be focused on academic skills, but instead how there should be an emphasis on socio-emotional learning. Human skills such as empathy, compassion, and authenticity are important as we aim for holistic education for our kids.
It’s things like this — Asher’s simple idea of having a “Reading Party” with his siblings, that make me as a parent more proud than having a perfect score in an exam or winning a school competition. It serves as a reminder to me of our “why” in homeschooling — that ultimately, it is their character that we hope to mold.
